Cheney Recreation MMA Fight Night at D’Mario’s

The hottest sport out there now days is MMA fighting.  Come out to D’Marios meeting rooms for a night or two of MMA action watching UFC 118 & 119 live!  August fight fee includes seat, 1 drink ticket & pizza buffet.  September fight fee includes seat, 1 drink ticket & chicken strips buffet.  Register by the deadline to guarantee your seat & to be entered into drawing for door prize.

Dates:                     Saturdays, Aug. 28 & Sept. 25

Time:                      8:30 p.m.-midnight

Fee:                         $7.00 per night through CRC or

$9 night of fights (no guarantee a seat will be available)

Bus Trip to Boothill Casino in Dodge City

Get signed up now for a fun trip out west to Dodge City’s new Boothill casino only a couple hours away.  Co-sponsored by CRC and C&M Tours. Fee includes bus, $7 voucher towards lunch & $10 match play card after 5 points on player card, so receive over half your money back. Bus ride will include coffee & donuts along with movies and bingo. Bus leaves from in front of the middle school parking lot along Main St.

Low Impact Aerobics

The program will be for ALL fitness levels.  Andrea Nicholson will lead this great class and has a philosophy of that if you are moving your body and you are having fun, then you are doing it right.  It will have a mix of low-impact cardio with some kick-boxing, as well as toning and stretching for an entire body workout. 6 week sessions.

Session 1:               August 22-September 28

Session 2:               October 3-November 9

Session 3:               November 14-December 21

Time:                      8:00-8:45 p.m.

Fee:                         $30.00 per session or

                                $75 for all 3 at early registration

Mother-Son Bowling Night

Mothers, aunts, grandmothers and caregivers are also welcome to bring their special boy(s) to this event.  As a group you will receive a small single topping pizza, drinks, photo and get to bowl together during the time frame.  For additional children pizza sizes increase to next size per child.  While bowling you may be paired up with other couples.  Space is limited; there will be a waiting list.

Candy Cane Flashlight Adventure

Bundle up & get your snow boots out for another fun family flashlight adventure.  Similar to an Easter egg hunt, but Santa and his elves hid many yummy candy canes around the Fairground ball field for you to find.  Participants will be required to bring their own flashlight (no spotlights are allowed), and may collect a total of 10 candy canes & other goodies.  Children 8 & under must be accompanied by an adult.  We will not be able to take any new participants the night of the event.  If weather is bad, event will move to the CRC building, 223 E. South Ave.

NYSCA Youth Sports Coaches Training Clinics

National Youth Sports Coaches Association (NYSCA) is a national coach's certification program developed to assist the local volunteer coach.  The coach has much responsibility including:  psychological and emotional needs of their players, safe playing conditions, poise in practice and game situations, plus much more.  CRC pays the $20 certification fee, which includes a $1,000,000 liability insurance, certification card, and quarterly "Sporting Kids" magazines.  Coaches who continue to stay certified year after year receive a $2,000,000 liability insurance and $250,000 accident insurance through NYSCA.  NYSCA clinics are hold during Head Coaches Meetings at all of the youth sport programs provided by CRC.

CRC Football Challenge Pick Em'

For the arm chair athlete comes CRC Football Challenge.  This is a FREE program where all you do is submit the winners of each weeks NFL regular season games.  Picks must be submitted before the 1st game of each week to count (remember the some Thursday night games).  Winners will receive a CRC shirt.  Only 1 entry per person.

Basketball Officials Clinic

Officiating basketball is a great way to make some extra cash.  CRC will hold a free clinic Sunday, November 21 at 1-3 p.m. at the CES gym.  It will cover mechanics, positioning, rules and certify you with the National Youth Sports Officiating Association.  If interested contact CRC.

Parents As Teachers (P.A.T.)

The PAT program is designed to provide parents with practical and effective information to promote the growth and development of infants and toddlers.  PAT is open to any parent with a child under 36 months of age who lives in Cheney USD 268.  For more information contact Angie Overlees at 542-3137.
